Job Overview (What You’ll Do):

Cotopaxi is seeking a Data Asset Manager to be responsible for maintaining and executing the company’s vision for its digital collection of photography and video assets. This contract role involves defining and managing processes for asset intake, storage, distribution, and archival, ensuring that all digital content is organized, accessible, and secure. 

As the Data Asset Manager, you will oversee the daily use and upkeep of our digital asset library, collaborate closely with the video production team, and assist various departments in locating and utilizing materials efficiently.

Ideal for a candidate who is highly organized, software savvy and has experience managing high-volume digital files, implementing naming conventions, and optimizing workflows. This position will be contracted for the duration of October - xxx and will be required to be in Salt Lake City.

 

Job Responsibilities (How You’ll Do It):

Intake

  • Gather, protect and load any new content as needed into Cotopaxi’s internal creative server.
  • Manage a high-volume of hi-res imagery files, audio, video, graphics documents and other digital assets.

Storage

  • Maintain the file and folder structure, naming conventions, permissions and sharing of file paths.
  • Understand frame rates, codecs, resolutions, and other technical specifications of cameras and video outputs.

Distribution

  • Maintain a catalog of assets for internal and external use.
  • Communicate to various stakeholders when assets are available, when downloaded assets have been revised, and when assets are no longer available for use.
  • Understand and utilize different delivery mediums and specs for asset sharing.

Archival

  • Optimize internal server space.
  • Evaluate metadata models regularly for adjustments and additions as the business evolves.
  • Maintain footage back-up tracking spreadsheet.
 

The Ideal Candidate (What You Need to Succeed):

  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience with digital asset management.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Media, Information Systems or Library Science, or equivalent work experience.
  • Comfortability using Adobe Creative Suite – Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop.
  • General software savviness with the ability to quickly learn new programs as needed.
  • Knowledge of basic hardware components – camera, memory cards, hardware storage, etc.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to work autonomously and manage time effectively.
  • The ability to regularly commute to our office in downtown Salt Lake City.
  • As an Independent Contractor, you shall furnish, at your own expense, the equipment, supplies and other materials used to perform all services.
